Karen's Diary
A day at Girlzone

After a great night’s sleep, we’re up bright and early at 8 in the morning. Everyone’s excited about today’s activities.

But first, we run down to a delicious breakfast. The food here is incredible!

That reminds me…later on today, I’m going to check the GirlZone farm to see if our baby goat has been born yet. Our counselor told us that we’ll be able to help feed it when it’s born. Lots of the animals here are getting ready to have babies, so we’ll have plenty of excitement during the next few weeks.

After breakfast, we have some quiet time to daven.

Then, at 10:00 comes my favorite part of the morning. Believe it or not, it’s learning groups. In school, sometimes I feel a little lost in class, but here, we all work together, and I’m learning so much!

After that, we have to go back to clean up our bunks. We don’t mind, though, because as soon as it’s all nice and neat, we get to go onto the next activity!

And the next activity is the ZIPLINE! If you ever wanted to know what it’s like to fly, this is your chance. We have such a great time that the counselors can’t quite get us to move on.

But at 11:45, we’re due at the kitchen where we get a chance to bake an incredible cake. The fantastic smell of the cake in the oven is enough to make you hungry, so we’re glad that lunch is next on the agenda.

Next we fill up on some more terrific food. Yum, I love lunch time!

After that we have a nice hour-long rest period. I just lounge around and shmooze, catching up on the latest. It’s exactly what we need before an afternoon of swimming and sports.

If you love to swim, this camp is really the place to be, because we have both an indoor and an outdoor pool. Even if it’s pouring rain outside, we never miss a swim!

After a whole hour at the pool, we’re ready for sports. GirlZone has every sport you can imagine. There’s softball, loads of basketball courts, volleyball, tennis, soccer, boating, horseback-riding – there’s even an exercise room. You could practically play a different sport every day .

Just when we’re running out of steam, we head off to the game-room for a little quiet time before dinner.
As fantastic as every day at GirlZone is, the nights are even better. Supper is filling and nutritious. We had franks on buns tonight.

And then, there’s night activity. You never know what it’s going to be, but it’s always something exciting. Last night, we had a real mind-reader and the night before was a fantastic lady singer.

At 9 pm, we’re off to bed. You don’t have to tell us twice, because after a full day at GirlZone, a girl needs some sleep!
